The answer to the above question is yes and no, because for certain professions, you need to get a university degree. And for some, you don’t need to do that. Below is why.

To become a doctor, lawyer, accountant, and so on. You need to receive a university degree. And all of these professions can give you long-term high salary gain, job stability, job satisfaction, increase your career prospects, and success outside of your workplace. As today, more and more high-tech jobs requiring advanced education. So the more advanced the education you get is the higher chance of success in today’s workforce.

To become a web developer, graphic designer, web designer,…, and so on. You don’t have to go to university because you can learn and build your career through your remarkable online portfolio and then show your remarkable online portfolio to employers.

My computer science degree I received from the University of Toronto didn't directly help with my career as a web developer. But during my university years, it did help me to develop transferable skills such as highly motivated, able to take the initiative, capable of working independently and within the team, communication, presentation, problem solving, working under pressure, meeting deadlines, managing my time effectively. And it also helped me to build up my self-confidence, independence, responsibility, diligence and tenacity. 8 (eight) is for my university projects, and 1 (one) is for my web developer projects. Note that 10 is the hardest to accomplish for me, and 1 is the easiest to accomplish for me.

The higher education you receive, the better the job you can get, the higher your wisdom, EQ, IQ can become, the more stable your emotion is, the deeper the peace of mind you can have inside yourself, and the more respect you will get from the people around you.
