Getting up early VS. Staying up late
Hello There!
As long as you pair getting up early with an earlier bedtime comes with plenty of benefits:
- If you often struggle to find the time for gym then getting up early can help.
- You can have more hours in a day to get things done if set your alarm an hour or two earlier than usual.
- Getting up and out of the house early can help you beat the usual traffic. Sitting in traffic can lead to: stress, depression, aggression and rage, respiratory issues.
-
Getting enough sleep comes with plenty of benefits:
-
Improved mood
-
Better concentration
-
Lower chance of obesity and other chronic diseases
On the flip side, a lack of quality sleep can:
-
Weaken your immune system, which means you might get sick more often
-
Raise your chance for high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes
-
Mess with your sex drive
- You can say good-bye to dark circles beneath your eyes.
-
Getting up early can give you extra time to make and enjoy a filling breakfast rather
than a quick coffee and donut on the go. Starting a nutritious meal can make you feel full longer and have more energy for the day ahead.
Stay late for overwork is bad for your both physical and mental health. For examples:
-
The physical effects of overwork are chronic fatigue, lack of energy, insomnia, impaired concentration, and loss of appetite. In extreme circumstances, overwork can even lead to premature death.
-
Mental health effects of overwork can include anxiety, anger, depression.
-
Overwork actually decreases productivity.
-
Staying late can create animosity between colleagues.
For example, all of your colleagues go home for
the day at 5pm. And you insist on staying until 7pm
most evenings. Everyone is annoyed with you because
you inadvertently create a competitive atmosphere where
the longest employee who stays wins. The team could never
leave after spending eight hours or finished their work
the day even though your extra hours are not the equivalent to higher productivity.
My conclusion is that get enough sleep every day. And what is most important is
that “Work while you work; play while you play”. Meaning that don't let pleasure
intrude upon your working time, or work upon your leisure time.
