Why do we work?
Hello There!
What motivates us to get out of bed in the morning and go to work every day?
Different people will have different answers. My answer is that the main reason
we work is to get paid. Why do I need a paycheck every month is because I need
the money to live due to I am an adult. For examples, I need to pay meals, medicines,
cell phone, clothing, transportation, utilities, eating out, buy the things I need, and
most importantly is to save regularly so that I can build my own family and I can use
these savings after retirement.
Having a job is good for your mental health because it allows you to meet and know new people, intellectual challenge, learn new skills, access to community, understand the world better, work-life balance, improve your self-esteem, and give you a sense of mission and identity.
The idea and thought of contributing to something is very important because it can make your life happy and fulfilling.
The working world is changing faster than ever before as we invent these devices today and others tomorrow,
it may feel overwhelming competitive. People want more from their work than money. For examples, they want
challenging, engaging, and most importantly, meaningful work that makes a difference to them and makes
them feel better about themselves. In fact, many people willingly accept less money for such work.
My conclusion is that on www.linkedin.com I found that all of my University of Toronto classmates have
great working experience for working over 2 years at company A, then over 3 years at company B and then
over 4 years at another company..... Why can not I do the same as like they did because I had been studying so
hard at the University of Toronto?
